Day Two: Really Proud Of No Junk Food Snacking! (Tuesday 11.26.13)

I am super proud of the fact that I haven't done any snacking on junk food since beginning my diet! Today was kind of a weird day in regards to food. I slept late and didn't eat breakfast but I did eat lunch and dinner. I have also made sure that I am drinking a lot of water. I haven't worked out yet, but I am going to after I finish posting this. It is very rainy and windy in my town so I am going to use my at home workout for Tuesday that I found on Pinterest.

Lunch: Panera, Small Chicken Alfredo Tortellini, Side Cesar Salad & Raspberry Ice Tea
Dinner: Brown Rice with Lentils and Hummus with Cucumber
Lots of water and no snacking in between meals.

Exercise: Tuesday Home Workout Routine

The great thing is that I haven't been feeling very hungry in between each meal and I am determined not to snack on bad things. If I do need a snack I want to have fruits, veggies or other things that have nutritional value. I do want to mention something that I forgot to mention in my Day One post. I am not going to be counting calories. I will be conscious of them and of course I wouldn't eat a Big Mac, but I am not going to make that the focus of my meals. Instead I am going to choose healthy things that I know are good for me like fruits and veggies and proteins. I am excited to see a change in my body. I know I am going to feel better and I can't wait!

Inspirational Quote of the Day:

Day One: Off To A Good Start (Monday 11.25.13)

I woke up today with a determination to stick to my diet and I hope that determination sticks! I weighed myself and I was 206 pounds. I am going to do weekly weigh-ins on Mondays that will be included with my Daily Meal and Exercise Journal. So today was a good day, I stuck to my planned meals of the day and didn't do any snacking on junk food in between.
Breakfast: Two pieces of Toast with 1/2 Tbs of Butter split between the two slices, handful of grapes, a banana and a glass of skim milk.
Lunch: Turkey Panini with fresh mozzarella, tomatoes, spinach and a little bit of fresh pesto.
Dinner: Half of a fontina grilled cheese and a big salad with dressing.
Snack: Special K Kettle Corn Popcorn Chips (These are delicious!)
I made sure that I drank between 8-10 glasses of water.

Exercise for the day was a workout routine that I love! I found it on Pinterest a long time ago and it is always my go to workout when I know I can't make it to the gym. There are different routines for everyday of the week. This combined with great workout music makes for an awesome workout! I always went for a 30 minute walk in the morning when I woke up.

Today was a great start and I am very excited to keep at it and see great results. Hard work and dedication will help me reach my goal and of course the support from all of you!

P.S. I am going to start including pictures of my meals, I just need to remember to do it. :P

Workout While You Watch Your Favorite Show?

I've got to admit, I love watching my TV shows. Anyone who knows me knows that I could get lost watching Doctor Who for hours, I mean I own all of the seasons on DVD! But I know that the biggest part of my weight gain is the fact that I have spent a lot more time sitting than moving and staying active. When I was Pinning away one day I came across two particular TV workouts that I thought would be perfect for me because I love these two shows.

Now keep in mind that these mini workouts are definitely not meant to replace your regular workout routine, whether it is at the gym or at home, it is just a nice way to be moving while still enjoying your favorite show. I think that TV workout games are particularly cool because it doesn't just have to be for someone trying to lose weight, it can be for someone who just wants to make sure they are staying active in some way. Say you work all day, come home, make a healthy dinner and then want to watch your favorite show, but have no time to go to the gym, this is the perfect way to get a workout in.
I am already a few hours into my first day of my new healthy diet and workout routine and I think I will definitely be using this for when I catch up on The Vampire Diaries! I am so behind, lol. I found a great board on Pinterest with different workout games for almost 50 shows! I know not everyone likes Doctor Who or The Vampire Diaries, so I will link it below. If you start doing this, let me know how it works and what show you are watching so maybe I can check it out! Also comment down below if you find any other workout games to do while getting other things done. This is the age of multitasking after all.

How Do I Even Begin To Lose Weight?!?!

That's the part that scares me the most. How do I lose weight? Can I commit to it and actually see results? In the past year alone I have gone on THREE "diets" and at the most I have lost 5 pounds. I lost more weight when I got a stomach virus last October and couldn't eat or drink anything except for water for a week and a half, but instantly gained it all back when I felt better and could eat again. Right now I am 206 pounds although the scale says a different weight (two to three pounds higher or lower) every time that I weigh myself. I have been between 200 and 205 pounds for the past year. I am thankful that my weight hasn't gone up anymore, but I am no longer okay with being this weight, not only is it not healthy, but I don't feel very good about myself anymore. At my healthiest and happiest weight I was 150. I remember thinking I was fat at the time. I don't know why, but as I gained weight I realized that I had been very healthy and I just didn't notice it. I have two pictures one of me right out of high school when I was 150 pounds and one at my current weight that was taken this past Mother's Day.

Me in May 2013 with my Beautiful Mother

When I started college and stopped working I began to have later nights with less sleep, more junk food and lounging around. I wasn't moving and I wasn't eating healthy and it really changed my metabolism and my weight. Today I am making a promise to myself that I will lose 50 pounds by July or sooner by eating healthy and exercising at least 4 to 5 days a week. I will do daily posts saying what I ate and what my workout routine was, I will also post inspirational videos and quotes. I plan to create a great workout playlist that I will link to on 8tracks so that if you are trying to lose weight and get healthy you can listen to it too (or if you just want to listen to some awesome music :D). I will also have weekly weigh-ins so that we can easily track our progress from day to day. It is 11:18 on Sunday so I will begin tomorrow. I look forward to getting healthy and feeling better. Thank you in advance to everyone that supports me. It means a lot!
